【主讲人简介】

John O’Halloran教授是爱尔兰科克大学的副校长，主管教学。科克大学是爱尔兰最古老的大学之一，也是著名的爱尔兰国立大学联盟成员之一。

John O’Halloran教授1987年获得博士学位，至今已经发表了200多篇论文，也出版了很多书籍，如最近的《Bird Habitats in Ireland》。他是英国鸟类学基金会的副理事长，也是爱尔兰乡村鸟类调查指导委员会的委员长，是哥本哈根欧洲环境局的顾问。John是一个鸟类学者，对鸟类和森林生态学很感兴趣，并主持了很多有关这些领域的科研项目。

John O’Halloran is the Vice-President for & Learning at University College Cork, where is a member of many committees including the University Management Team, the IT Steering Group, the Academic Council & Learning and eLearning committees and the Honorary Degree Board.

He was previously Head of School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences at UCC, where he holds the Chair in Zoology. He is also a former Vice Head of College of Science, Engineering and Food Science, a role he fulfilled for five years. He has held academic posts in Cardiff, Maine and has delivered lectures widely across Europe and North America.

John is an ornithologist with an interest in birds, particularly swans and dippers, and also in forest ecology, having led a large number of research projects in these fields. He was awarded the President’s prize for and honorary membership of the Students Union of Ireland for his contributions to graduate education, policies and structures.
